Second season of Sustainable Travel: Where Next? docu-series debuts for World Tourism Day

SEATTLE, WA (September 27, 2023) – Today, Sustainable Travel International released the first episodes of the second season of Sustainable Travel: Where Next? in honor of World Tourism Day. Launched last year, the short-form documentary series takes viewers on a transformative journey, showcasing initiatives across the globe that are redefining tourism as a force for positive change.The second season of Sustainable Travel: Where Next? takes viewers to new corners of the planet, bringing more stories to life through the voices of local changemakers. The episodes explore solutions that are mitigating tourism impacts like ocean pollution and climate change, while creating benefits for environments, destinations, and communities. Viewers will witness how tourism dollars support community-led forest conservation in Tanzania, learn how to minimize disturbances to Svalbard’s pristine arctic wilderness, and discover how a leave no trace program is protecting sea life in California’s Laguna Beach. With the release of the first five episodes of season two, the full series now includes a total of 22 episodes, with additional episodes to be released over the coming year. According to Booking.com’s 2023 Sustainable Travel Report, 74% of travelers want tourism companies to offer more sustainable choices. As travelers seek out more mindful experiences, tourism companies and destinations must shift away from traditional, extractive forms of tourism in order to remain competitive.“Sustainability is a broad, complex topic and many people don’t know where to start. To mitigate the environmental impact of the film, Zinc Media Group will once again be partnering with Sustainable Travel International to offset emissions generated by the film production and invest in climate action by supporting a portfolio of forestry, renewable energy, and blue carbon projects.
