The Caribbean’s natural beauty and cultural heritage make it a top travel destination, but unmanaged tourism growth poses sustainability challenges. In St. Kitts, where tourism is the primary economic driver, Sustainable Travel International has been working alongside the Ministry of Tourism to implement sustainable practices that protect the island’s ecosystems and heritage while supporting local communities. As part of these efforts, we are currently helping St. Kitts develop a Tourism Climate Action Plan, equipping tourism stakeholders with the right tools and strategies that are needed to measure and mitigate emissions effectively.
This webinar was hosted in collaboration with the Caribbean Tourism Organization and builds on discussions from COP29. It also explores how carbon measurement tools can empower stakeholders to take meaningful climate action and help the region align with global commitments like the Paris Agreement and the Glasgow Declaration.
Speakers:
- Paloma Zapata, CEO, Sustainable Travel International – Sharing insights on carbon measurement tools to help destinations take their first steps toward net zero.
