Our blog is a valuable resource for travelers and tourism industry professionals on their sustainability journey. We pride ourselves on producing high-quality stories that offer practical guidance, inspire action, and communicate the positive impacts of conscientious travel.

Position Summary

We are looking for experienced content writers to craft engaging and educational articles for Sustainable Travel International’s blog. All blog topics will be defined by Sustainable Travel International as we do not currently accept pitches for guest posts.

Freelance writers are hired on an article-by-article basis and get paid per piece of content produced. For all assignments, we provide a brief that outlines the topic, length, deadline, and any writing requirements. While article length varies by topic, it is typically no less than 1,000 words. You can always turn down an assignment if you don’t feel comfortable with the topic or timeframe. Freelance writers who consistently produce quality content may be considered for regular assignments.

What we’re looking for

Absolute musts

Exceptional writing skills in American English with impeccable grammar and spelling.
Ability to research credible facts, statistics, and real-life examples to enhance the depth and authenticity of your content. Depending on this assignment, this may include independently conducting interviews.
Strong attention to detail including fact-checking and proofreading your content to ensure quality and accuracy.
Strong communication and time management skills and adherence to deadlines.
Capacity to write content that resonates with users and is engaging for the web.
Adaptability and willingness to accept feedback and revise work as needed.
Previous writing experience evidenced by a portfolio of relevant work.

It’s a bonus if…

You have experience writing about travel, sustainability, or international development topics.
You are knowledgeable about SEO copywriting best practices.

What we’re NOT looking for

We do not accept pitches for guest posts on topics of your choice. We only hire writers to draft blog posts that have already been defined by us.
