A creative-minded optimist, Kaitlyn is passionate about using communications to inspire meaningful change. With a background in tourism and purpose-driven marketing, her expertise spans strategy planning, content development, digital marketing, capacity building, and graphic design.
Growing up as one of five children, family vacations were always a blast but typically closer to home. After working for a destination marketing organization, Kaitlyn was ready to broaden her horizons and (absolutely terrified) boarded her first international flight to Bali. There, she lived in the fishing village of Tianyar, teaching community members English and computer skills necessary to work in the tourism industry. This experience exposed her to both the benefits and consequences of tourism, igniting her passion for international development and sustainable tourism.
Kaitlyn channels her enthusiasm and expertise into managing Sustainable Travel International’s marketing communications. She educates travelers and tourism professionals about best practices, encourages the industry to invest in climate action, and shares compelling stories of sustainability in action. She has been privileged to support Sustainable Travel International’s work in destinations like Barbados, Fiji, St. Kitts, Antigua and Barbuda, Chile, Samoa, Vail, and Mexico.
Based in Seattle, Kaitlyn enjoys exploring the region’s incredible natural beauty by biking the trails, paddling her kayak, and hiking in the mountains. Since her first international trip, Kaitlyn has not stopped traveling. Her favorite adventures include scuba diving in Thailand and Indonesia, trekking to 15,000+ feet in the Andes mountains, cycling through Bali’s rice fields, and spotting wildlife in Costa Rica and the Amazon. These experiences continually reignite her zeal for environmentally and socially responsible tourism.
Kaitlyn holds a BA in Public Relations from Gonzaga University.
