This free, 7-week course was developed by Sustainable Travel International and is once again being offered by the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and the Hamburg Open Online University (HOOU). The course aims to:
- Enhance participant understanding of sustainable tourism development and management
- Inspire learners to think carefully and critically about current SIDSโ tourism issues and related tourism policies
- Enable participants to assess the opportunities that sustainable tourism strategies offer for SIDS in particular
- Understand how policy-making can improve tourism in small island states
This course is designed to support your critical thinking regarding current tourism regimes and policies. It seeks to form a truly global SIDS learning community, facilitating peer-to-peer interaction and cross-destination knowledge sharing; while drawing from concrete experiences in the Caribbean, Pacific, West African, and Indian Ocean regions. A number of qualified tutors will guide learners along the way, to clarify any issues and provide academic supervision
