Global Operations Internship
Building on 15 years of success as a catalyst and convener, Sustainable Travel International is leading the charge toward a more just, mindful and responsible travel and tourism industry–one that protects the environmental, economic and social fabric of destinations globally and that is accountable for its impact in these areas.
The goal of the Future Leaders Program is to help the trailblazers of tomorrow gain valuable and unique hands-on work experience today with one of the world’s leading sustainable tourism NGOs. Future Leader placements are short-term (2 to 6 months in duration), are part- or full-time, and are designed to give participants the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge to real-world projects and initiatives that are making a difference worldwide. These positions are unpaid, but there is potential for merit-based compensation.
We are looking for a fast-learning, motivated and high-performing individual to join our Future Leaders Internship Program to assist our Global Operations team.

Position Duration: 3 – 6 months
Required Hours: 10-16 hours per week
Desired Start Date: ASAP
Location: Portland, OR or Virtual
Key responsibilities of the Global Operations Future Leader include:
- Assist with Finance/HR/Operations research as needed
- Support the organization in becoming a leading place to work
- Assist with policy writing/updating for human resources
- Prepare and process revenue related invoices
- Maintain, review and collect on past due/outstanding accounts
- Assist with accounts payable, vendor contracts, financial grant management, and reconciliations
- Other tasks and projects as assigned
- Familiarity with Gmail and google docs
- Ability to perform effectively in a virtual office environment
- Strong financial skills
- Confidentiality is a must
- QuickBooks use is a plus.
Experience in the non-profit sector and a keen interest in travel and sustainability is a plus.
