Executive Projects Future Leader

Building on 15 years of success as a catalyst and convener, Sustainable Travel International is leading the charge toward a more just, mindful and responsible travel and tourism industry–one that protects the environmental, economic and social fabric of destinations globally and that is accountable for its impact in these areas.

The goal of the Future Leaders Program is to help the trailblazers of tomorrow gain valuable and unique hands-on work experience today with one of the world’s leading sustainable tourism NGOs.  Future Leader placements are short-term (2 to 6 months in duration) and are designed to give participants the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge to real-world projects and initiatives that are making a difference worldwide.  These positions are unpaid, but there is potential for merit-based compensation.

We are looking for a fast-learning, motivated and high-performing individual to join our Future Leaders Internship Program to assist our CEO in priority projects for the organization.

Position Duration: 3 months, with the possibility of extending

Required Hours: 20 – 40 hours per week

Location: Virtual


Key responsibilities of the Executive Projects Future Leader include:

  • Support with completing a monitoring dashboard for tourism businesses
  • Research Foundations aligned with  our work in the LAC region
  • Support the iAccess program which promotes improved accessibility reporting throughout the tourism industry
  • Projects related to the organization’s operations
  • Misc projects assigned by the CEO

Additional qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Gmail and google docs
  • Ability to perform effectively in a virtual office environment
  • Strong writing and research skills
  • Experience with monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience with collecting data through online surveys

Ideal candidates will be pursuing or hold a graduate degree in tourism, business, sustainable development, international development, management or similar. Experience in the nonprofit sector and a keen interest in travel and sustainability is a plus.
